After a year, the race that´s about to become an urban myth, LA Clande5ta!, comes back to its roots .
Surprises assured for this version, since both prior bi- champs are now

Would this be the chance for the 26’’ ?

Described as one of the most exhaustive alleycats, EDB broke all expectations.
33 riders had to demostrate all their city skills: orientation and endurance.
It started in Santa Isabel / Condell, you had to go get the route with the points hand-out and 2 envelopes to Estación Mapocho, after that, you were free to do you´re own trip:
- Romero (Estación Central).
- El Oidor (Manuel Montt / Irarrázabal)
- Lider Plaza Egaña (Ñuñoa + buy a beer)
- Isidora Goyenechea (Las Condes)
And the goal was nothing less than San Cristobal Hill´s Japanese Garden. Even then the single speed´ supremacy in the street was proven.
- 1º Pancho SS (
- 2º Chala SS.
- 3º Mario Boldoy SS (Velociti Messengers).
-1ª Ana María, Ruta.
And to kill it off, the organization was waitin´with full barbecue, ponche, beers and huge hiphopin¨ amplifiers. Great prizes: messenger bags, flip-flop hubs and more.
EDB made it evident, by podium and awards, that any urban race organization is far from profit, faraway from fixin´results or playin´the wrong way.
That´s 100% good vibes (for those who have´nt learned to accept defeat: DITE).

A real bicycling celebration, an urbanbiker´s party we experienced on thursday in La Cl4ndesta.
Unbelieveable the reception among the riders, who were arriving in groups to enroll at 19 pm.
The night projected cold, welcoming the autum in
Riders sharing their tecniques and discussing tactics, some pre-heating and elongating. Others, smoking to soften the nervousness.
The media interested in the event were making what´s theirs among flashes, big lenses and interviews, giving an extra feeling to the atmosphere……To get to that moment there were riders who trained a whole month, others made brand new unique bicycles for the occasion, and many transformed theirs in order to “surf” in the city…
The coverage was so, that at 20 hrs ( official hour of convocation), there were more than 30 signatures ready to roll .
Just minutes before the motion, the staff in charge of checkpoints gathered to be informed just then about the points. Each went off with a cameraman.
The tension raises as time moves forward, inscriptions are closed with 49 riders, quite a record! And bikers are called to sit in the stands without their bikes. Each one receives a sealed envelope that contains the designated route with the 5 points for the race:

After the instructions and important questions starts the fourth Clandesta!
-Immediately emerged the different strategies. Some riders decide to go to the nearest checkpoint and evaluate the rest of their path on their way. Others, took some minutes on elaborating their route before they went off.
Already on the street, the 49 runners splitted up, mostly in 2 groups: Cemetery and WTC, although some headed alone towards the other distant points.
After the shout : Whose is the street ?!! Some leading insane riders were doing their tricks on crossings and traffic lights, whistling and horning and even the most experienced practicing some “critical mass”, makin´ literally theirs the street.
On the way to WTC many burned their legs and hanged , way up, to more than one vehicle, fighting the meta volante (each rider that got first to a checkpoint received a prize).
But the kingdom of the street would belong to the 28”¨s!: a gang of at least 5, among routers and single speeders, were meeting on the wheel as they kicked gradually the group that started by Cementeries. Soon they took shape as a rout team, even pulling each other´s, althoug they knew that the final sprint for the finishing line would be harsh.
Meanwhile other runners were´nt free of adventures: some falls, a crush to a stop sign and a little accident with a police wagon (no whinings), which were the usual stuff of the journey.
The register of the riders in the checkpoints was informed periodically to the finishing line, where a security tracking took place (including a mysterious self-appointed runner Nº 87…).
Minutes were running in the stopwatches, and when they got to the 43:00:00, Klaus shows in the
The Awards , given in the Puramente Bar, were the most generous we´ve had in La Clandesta or in any urbanbiker¨s event (in “the happy copy of
-Metas volante (5): Bottles Powerbar + tubes or handles bars.
-Bicivilízate prize to the first single speed, Chala: a mechanic’s apron.

Good ambiance, huge coverage, and the best chillin´between beers (any potential sponsors ´round here jijiji) closing the fourth version of this urbanbikertribe´s event: La Clandestaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!.
C-ya in the streets!
